Emerging Engagement Models
Lessons from the intersection of emerging technologies and emerging economies
The next Silicon Valley Microfinance Network (SVMN) meeting will feature technology, strategy, and policy expert Stephen Goodman.

Stephen Goodman
SVMN’s next Speaker Event will continue our recent programs’ theme of innovations and emerging models in microfinance. This meeting will address the tremendous possibilities that exist as technologies develop and economies grow. Technology will continue to be an essential tool in scaling microfinance in any number of areas -- reaching clients, aggregating funders, increasing back-office efficiency at microfinance institutions (MFIs), etc. At the same time, entrepreneurism abounds in developing economies as individuals and institutions work on creating sustainable enterprises and systems that will grow their micro and macro economies.
For the last 18 years Stephen Goodman has worked at the intersection of strategy and technology in an international context. He will present a corporate perspective on emerging market challenges, specifically discussing models for firm engagement with the base of the pyramid (BoP). Along with an overview of the unique role of information, computers and technology (ICTs) in building microfinance, economic development and sustainable business models, Stephen will share case studies (e.g. open source, growing data demand) and will raise questions about the limits and possibilities of technology. Please join us to discuss the fascinating questions at the crossroads of emerging technologies and emerging economies.
Register early! Online registration closes the day of the event. At-the-door admission is $10 more.
There is a parking garage (entrance on Fremont St) that costs $10 after 4:30 p.m.
